Interior Lighting Trends from Legend Lighting

Kim Neal, co-owner Legend Lighting shares what she predicts will be the lighting trends of 2015. See these gorgeous fixtures for yourself at Legend Lighting’s brimming showroom in Austin.

Decorative LED

“LED lighting is increasingly finding it’s way into more decorative light fixtures and more interesting designs. Since it’s inception, LED has been a great choice for under cabinet lighting, landscape lighting, recessed lighting, pendant lighting and more technical applications. As the technology has developed it is being used increasingly in decorative lighting.. Here is an example of a new line that we just brought into our showroom called Blackjack Lighting. This fixture is “The Starburst” and it is all LED.

1

Updated Traditional

We saw many new introductions in traditional lighting, but with slight modifications to make them look current and fresh. Examples of this would be new looks using distressed wood, rustic metals, natural fibers and interesting finishes.  This fixture, the Taormina 12 light chandelier from Terracota Designs incorporates iron and jute. Terracota Designs is based right here in Austin and was started in 2011. We LOVE supporting local businesses and will be adding several chandeliers from this company to our showroom soon.

Industrial

Industrial styles are still going strong and there are many interpretations from rustic farmhouse to more sleek contemporary styles. The Loft pendant from LBL Lighting is a great example of industrial chic. A custom look can be created by choosing from three metal shade colors and four metallic cage options.

3

Warm Metals

We saw many lighting designs with metallics and mixed metals in all styles, traditional, transitional and contemporary. Warm metals in brass, copper, bronze and gold are hot right now. The Sepia pendant from Kichler is a blend of sleekness and rustic charm with the dome in antique copper with accents in old bronze.”
