Daylight Saving: Time to Spring Foward!

Time springs forward 1 hour this Sunday, March 8th at 2:00 a.m.

The Upside: Additional daylight after work allows more time to be active around Austin and with your family.
The Downside: Losing an hour of sleep Sunday, which can make the dreaded Monday morning a little worse.

No need to worry! Read our tips and breakfast recommendations to improve your “Monday morning after” the time change.

 3 Daylight Saving Time Tips:

  1. Set the clocks in your home forward 1 hour on Friday night. If needed, use your cell phone to see actual time. Changing the clocks in your home early can help you and your children get to bed a little earlier each night, easing the impact of losing an hour of sleep overnight Sunday.
  2. If Austin skies aren’t covered in clouds again this weekend, try to get out in the early morning sun! Direct early morning sunlight can help your brain’s sleep-wake cycle align with the time change.
  3. Eat a good breakfast Monday morning.

Breakfast Recommendations from the RBI Team:

Robin’s #1 Omelette: Waterloo Ice House – Several Austin Locations
Robin loves Waterloo’s house omelette with sauteed spinach & mushrooms topped with jack cheese. When she wants a sweeter start to the day, she goes for their gluten-free cinnamon pecan pancakes. Any Waterloo pancake can be made gluten-free for just $1 extra.

Kelsey’s East Austin Fav.: Juan in a Million – 2300 E. Cesar Chavez St.
Born and raised in Austin, Kelsey has been eating the “Don Juan” since she was a young girl. Now this enormous taco has become a legendary taco. The fact that the “Don Juan” has been sensationalized in recent years doesn’t take away from the absolute deliciousness of the perfect blend of bacon, egg, potato and Mexican cheese. Sit down to enjoy chips & salsa along with your coffee or grab a “Don Juan” to go!
