From the Runway: Fur Accents

Fur Accents From the Runway to Robin Bond Interiors

I like to incorporate some form of animalistic accent in every room I design. Influence from the animal kingdom can be found throughout my home. In design, this can be done in a lot of subtle and unexpected ways. The three elements below are the main benefits to using animal-inspired decor, like this week’s trend fur accents, in your space:

Texture

Animal-inspired textures, like the irresistibly cozy faux fur throws pictured above and below or the lime green alligator-inspired vinyl of my breakfast dining chairs featured during our “Be Jeweled” week can add comfort and interest to a space. Textures like snakeskin, alligator, ostrich and furs have a strong presence in the worlds of fashion and interior design.

Color Contrast

Some prints that occur naturally in the animal world are more beautiful than any designer could come up with. I love clothing and decor influenced by the natural contrast, symmetry and variation of animal coats like the leopard print rug and bedding accent pillows below.

Comfort

Nothing brings me comfort like petting my precious ragdoll, Rocco. The exquisitely soft feeling of faux fur accents and shag rugs bring a feeling of warmth and comfort that nearly rivals the real thing.
