The Southwest trend has been prominent in fashion for a few years now and after going school shopping with my son Shelton this summer, I can tell this style hasn’t lost its luster yet. I have also seen a resurgence of this trend in interiors too. Texas “ranch style” is pretty similar to the Southwest style, and will probably always have a stronghold in the Texas hill country.
I designed this master bedroom for a couple who recently moved from the Chicago area to Dripping Springs, Texas. Wanting to fully embrace their new Texas lifestyle, they asked me to create a ranch style look with a Southwest flair. We all agreed to keep the sprawling live oaks the focal point of the windows in this master bedroom, so we chose a neutral roman shade for the window treatments.
For fun, here’s a rendering of a more elaborate Southwest-inspired window treatment for this bedroom had the view not been so awe-inspiring. An all wooden cornice custom-built to complement the headboard is paired with two stationary tied-back panels. The panels are accessorized with an inner banding fabric that complements the bedding and tied back with leather fringe tassels. Our sister company Draped, creates fully custom window treatments, upholstery and bedding. Full-color renderings are included with each custom creation so clients can see what the finished product will look like before approving. This service gives our clients confidence in their decision and a sneak peek at their desired style!
