We’re creating the ultimate holiday dining space this November and December using our digital design services. Get a look behind my residential interior design process and watch this dining space come to life each week as we bring in new elements from the floor to the ceiling, down to the holiday table setting.
This is typically how rooms look when I get the opportunity to start with a blank canvas. Bare floors, finished drywall and recessed lighting in place. By this point in the new construction or remodel process, I have already helped my clients zone in on an architectural feel for the space. In this dining room, I chose to use an inverted ceiling tray to add architectural interest and height. This style is very popular and works well in kitchens and dining rooms.
The two other decisions that must be made and installed in this first stage of the process are flooring and paint. This flooring is from Shaw Flooring’s Rose Hickory collection in the Bayou Brown color. It comes in 5″ plank widths with dramatic texture and graining.
All the paint selections are from Benjamin Moore. The trim is in Benjamin Moore’s 2016 color of the year, Simply White, with a hi-gloss finish. New London Burgundy covers the walls in a hi-gloss finish, creating a warm and welcoming backdrop for this dining space. The main ceiling and sides leading into the tray inset are painted in Benjamin Moore’s Acorn Yellow in a flat finish. Finally, the insert is painted in festive Pumpkin Pie with a pearl finish.
Some clients come to us just looking for help with paint selections only. We have paint plan options based on square footage and can help you pick cohesive colors for the interior and exterior of your home. Read more about our easy to implement paint plans here.
We have developed and refined an organizational tool for new construction and remodel projects called a Construction Finish-Out Schedule, which organizes all construction selections for the project into one full-color and easily accessible document. Let us work with you and your builder every step of the way to ensure beautiful results.
Thank you for designing with us. Follow along as this ultimate holiday dining space takes shape! Next week we’re adding an amazing area rug and sharing our rug care and cleaning guide with our loyal community of followers.
