The Texas winery on the blog this week is Lewis Wines in Johnson City. We had a great time “working” while sampling many great wines! Lewis Wines out of Johnson City is a small family-owned winery that uses only 100% Texas Grapes. It has a lovely outdoor covered patio off of the wine tasting room where you can enjoy overlooking the vineyards as you experience some of their award winning wines.
This winery makes small batches, so make sure to try these recommendations soon!
Our top picks from our wine tasting were the award winning 2015 High Plains Rose. I am not typically a fan of Rose, but this is one of the best Roses I have ever had. It makes for a light and enjoyable Summer Wine. Pair it with shrimp or a cheese plate appetizer.
Our other pick was the 2012 Texas Tempranillo Reserve. This red wine is light enough to be enjoyed in the heat of the Summer. Pair this with anything off of the grill, whether it be steaks or BBQ.
Planning a trip to visit Lewis Vineyards? If so, we would love to hear about your trip and what your favorite wines were!
Unit then, life is better with good food, good wine and great design.
